Podcast & Brand Origins

Doing It At Home was born out of a simple need: to create the best resource that supports, informs and empowers home birth families.

We, Sarah and Matthew Bivens, started the podcast just after beginning our journey to home birth in summer 2016. Now, 2 home birth later, we’re even more excited and inspired to bring the best birth stories, interviews and real, honest conversations to home birth mothers and fathers around the world.

Typical DIAH Listener, Subscriber & Watcher

The typical DIAH fan is a current or soon-to-be mom between 25-25. She is gearing up for her home birth and is interested in resources, stories, and inspiration as she prepares for the big day. She seeks out specific types of resources that align with her values, some of them being: holistic health, transparency, empowerment and family.

Additional listener types include: women who are not mothers (they refer to themselves as “non-moms”), home birth thought leaders, midwives, doulas and self proclaimed “birth junkies” who love all things having to do with birth (especially birth stories).

Part of our mission is to normalize home birth and talking openly about the magnificence of the body, and so we celebrate all aspects of a person’s story and experience.
